A businesswoman charged for attempted arson has been remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates Court.

Tulia Nacola had sought bail from court and said she had a business to run and was willing to pay for the damage. She had talked to the owner of the house.

Acting Police prosecutor corporal Josua Shaw objected to bail as it was an indictable offence. The prosecution had a strong case as there were admissions in the caution statement.

Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne remanded Nacola and has transferred the case to the High Court in Suva.

It is alleged that on June 22 at Lot 50 at Richards Road in Domain; Nacola wilfully and unlawfully set fire to the wooden fence that could have also burned the residence of Michael Nacola.

The court has been adjourned to July 8.
