The Fiji Orchid, an adult only property in Saweni, Lautoka has re-opened operation.

This was after Cyclone Winston caused serious damage to all accommodation bures.

Owner/Director Peter Bourke said: “Bures did not stand a chance after they were ravaged by winds that were strong enough to uproot huge trees that were 40-years-old.”

Prior to Cyclone Winston, the ‘Orchid’ was enjoying occupancy of close to 100 per cent and had forecast the remaining months of 2016 to be the same.

Mr Bourke and his team of labourers and carpenters are looking forward to restoring the ‘Orchid’ to its former glory.

This was once the treasured property of Raymond Burr, the Hollywood star of Perry Mason and Ironside.

“Mr Burr’s guest house has been transformed into a stunning lounge, bar and gourmet restaurant,” he said.

“His private residence on the property has been transformed into the reception area where guests are received on arrival.

“Six inspirational guest bures with a very modern flavour are now dotted around Mr Burr’s magnificent tropical orchid gardens.”

Features

Within five acres of landscaped surrounds, the property ensures that time spent is a relaxing one allowing guests to unwind.

The Raymond’s Restaurant prides itself in serving the best of local cuisine using locally grown produce only.

Also, group bookings for board meetings, intimate wedding groups and events needs to be made in advance.

Only a handful of locally trained staff look after a maximum of 12 guests.
