Hika Elliot.

Powerful, agile,  mobile and a powerful exponent of the modern style of hooking play, Hika Elliot will play his 100th game for the Super Rugby franchise Chiefs against the Crusaders at the ANZ Stadium on Friday,

Elliot is among the 25-man tour party named by Coach Dave Rennie who will arrive at Nausori International Airport this afternoon.

A black belt in kung fu, the reliable hooker was a key member of the Chiefs squad that won back-to-back Investec Super Rugby titles in 2012 and 2013 with Fijian flyer Asaeli Tikoirotuma.

Rennie has also drafted 2.01m 23-year-old Waikato lock Jacob Skeen for the remainder of the Super Rugby season.

Michael Allardice’s season is over after injuring his knee in the win over Wales earlier this month, while another locking option, Johan Bardoul, has suffered the same fate, with an ankle injury. While Brodie Retallick and Dominic Bird are the premier locking pairing, Taleni Seu is the only backup option, so Skeen has been brought in, following two impressive NPC seasons for the Mooloos, and an appearance for the Maori All Blacks last year.

Taranaki loose forward Mitchell Brown has also been brought in as a replacement player, with the 22-year-old having started at blindside flanker against Wales.

The Chiefs welcome all of their All Blacks back into the fold after the 3-0 test series win over Wales.

The Chiefs will announce their 23 tomorrow.

Friday’s game will be the first Super Rugby match played in Fiji, and looms as crucial, with three rounds of the regular season left. The Crusaders (45 points) sit at the top of the New Zealand conference, with the Chiefs (42) second, followed by the Hurricanes (40), Highlanders (38) and Blues (30).

Chiefs:

Forwards: Kane Hames, Siegfried Fisi’ihoi, Hiroshi Yamashita, Atu Moli, Hika Elliot, Nathan Harris, Dominic Bird, Brodie Retallick, Jacob Skeen, Taleni Seu, Sam Cane, Tom Sanders, Mitchell Brown, Lachlan Boshier.

Backs: Brad Weber, Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Aaron Cruden, Stephen Donald, James Lowe, Toni Pulu, Andrew Horrell, Anton Lienert-Brown, Seta Tamanivalu, Damian McKenzie, Sam McNicol.
