President: Promote Healthy Living

This was highlighted by President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote while hosting the two teams to a reception in thanking them for their achievements at the World Sevens Series.
“Forty per cent of deaths that occur in our country are NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) related so there is a great deal of work that needs to be done to achieve a healthy nation,” President Konrote said.
“I urge the teams to support Government in promoting health living among our fellow Fijians and one way to achieve this is through participation in sports.”
President Konrote congratulated the Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan and his team for winning the World Seven Series for the second consecutive year.
“I have no doubt that both teams will do exceptionally well at the 2016 Rio Olympics and I wish both teams well ahead of their preparations.”
He said Government’s move to reward athletes who win gold for Fiji at the 2016 Rio Olympics was an incentive for players to work harder.
