Sabha Welcomes Proper Ash Facility

The Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji appreciates the Government’s decision for allocating funds to construct a proper facility to disperse ashes of their loved ones.
Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has allocated $100,000 in the budget to build the new facility to disperse ashes into the sea in the 2016-17 Budget announcement last Wednesday.
The Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji president Sarju Prasad said they had some plans in the pipeline to build facilities around the country.
“We are currently focusing on the Vatuwaqa Cemetery project which will start in September,” he said.
“These funds have been, I believe, provided for the Vatuwaqa Cemetery or the Nasese one but we have other programmes we would be talking to the Government about.
“We also have people who are trying to help more Shraadh Ghaat’s (pouring of ashes in the sea point) in the Western and Northern division.”
He said the walkway into the sea for the ritual would be built near the Vatuwaqa Crematorium in Suva.
