Team Fiji Coach Happy With Her Swimmers

Fiji swimming coach Sharon Smith is happy with the performance of Team Fiji swimmers throughout the week-long Oceania Swimming Championships.
“The team is dong fantastic, we’ve got a group of young swimmers and everyone is doing PBs (personal best),” she said.
She said Team Fiji had achieved two silver and four bronze medals for an overall count of six medals over four days of competition.
“I think all of them have done really well,” said Sharon.
She said 14-year-old Moana Wind’s silver medal from the 50- metre breaststroke final was one of the many highlights for Team Fiji at this year’s Oceania Swimming Championship.
Smith said she was not expecting much due to the competition from Oceania giants Australia and New Zealand being part of the Championships along with tough competition from Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia just to name a few.
Team Fiji captain, Epeli Rabuli also praised his team’s overall performance.
“The team effort is amazing, we are able to support each other and this motivated us to perform to our best,” says Epeli.
Sharon said she was thankful to all the parents, supporters and also acknowledged the sponsors for being behind Team Fiji, throughout the Oceania Swimming Championship.
“It’s been a while that we have a group of kids feeling comfortable in such events and this makes a big difference for the future of the sport in Fiji,” said Sharon.
