The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Siddiq Koya welcomed the Super Rugby team, Gallagher Chiefs at the Nausori International Airport yesterday.

“We hope you will have a wonderful stay here. As you all know this is a historic occasion for us having our first Super Rugby game.

“The entire Fiji is looking forward to Friday’s game and we wish you well and looking forward to a wonderful game,” Koya said.

“We hope you enjoy the Fijian hospitality.”

Accepting the first bowl of kava during the traditional welcoming ceremony, Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie jokingly says “this tastes much better then Tikoirotuma’s mix.”

Asaeli Tikoirotuma played for the Chiefs when they won the title in 2012, 2013.

“The first 15 minutes have been really impressive, very welcoming,” Rennie said.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders will arrive into the country at 10:05am today at Nausori International Airport while the Chiefs will also name their lineup today at 12:30pm at Novotel Suva Lami Bay.
