Can someone out there help this lot?

Someone in the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations should hear the cries of a group of workers in the west.

They have broken away from their old union to form their own union and have told their employers to stop deducting their union fees and sending them to the old union.

They say the old union should not accept their fees too. But their demand is falling on deaf ears.

They do not know who else can they turn to for relief.

Someone in the ministry says they cannot do anything and it’s between the two rival groups to sort out. They desperately need a third party to intervene and break the stalemate.

They are beginning to have doubts about the Employment Relations Promulgation Amendment Act 2015 which allows them to form their own union.

Samoan humour

And just to lighten things up. The following is from the Between the Lines column in the Samoa Observer newspaper, across in Apia:

Lawyer: How was your first marriage terminated?

Witness: By death.

Lawyer: And by whose death was it terminated?

Witness: Take a guess.
