BNZ Crusaders wing Jone Macilai hopes to deliver a special performance against the Chiefs in front of his home crowd at the ANZ Stadium tomorrow night.

“This is a very special match for me, bringing this match here at home, the first Super Rugby match is history for Fiji.

“I feel happy and I’m looking forward to the special day and I’m very excited,” Macilai said.

“Coming back home and playing in front of my home crowd is really special.”

Macilai has been named to pair up with Namatakula, Nadroga native Nemani Nadolo on the wings.

The former Red Rock 7s rep calls on the Fijian Crusaders fans to come out in numbers and support the team.

“We want the Crusaders fans to come out on Friday night and support the boys and the Crusaders team, hope to see everybody there.”

Crusaders head coach Todd Blackadder admires the attitude of Macilai who has really stepped up this season.

“Jone tells us that he’s the boss, he actually bosses Nemzy (Nadolo) around but he is a great guy, he’s a mischievous little fella.

“He’s a lot of fun and has really come out of his shell this year. He’s a little bit of quite guy, he’s been fantastic.

“He’s tough, he knows how to score tries and I think these Fijian boys are really excited of playing and hopefully we will see the best of them this Fri day.

Red Rock support

Macilai’s former Red Rock 7s coach Lote Rasiga said they would be going out in numbers to support the winger.

“We are expecting an entertaining show from Jone; he’s the wing who looks for gaps and creates space for others.

“We are expecting more from him on Friday,” Rasiga said.
