Vodafone Fijian 7s coach Ben Ryan aims to drop a few players after the fourth week of training at the Uprising Beach Resort.

“I’m a little disappointed with some of their scores during fitness and a couple of other things,” Ryan said.

“So if we need to tighten up and chop the team down, than that’s what I’ll do

“I will be picking on form not on faces. My combination on how many forwards and how many backline will depend on a few things around how we are going to play each team and the form of different players.”

Ryan gave the players the most intense fitness session from Tuesday and the players will go head to head against each other next week.

“I’ve tried to toughen them up as much as possible and I’m sure there will be plenty debate around the 13 players but I’ll pick the team and when I do on July 15.  I’m sure it’s going to be very strong and powerful,” he said

“The boys are tired, fatigued, a bit grumpy but they know there’s a bigger goal in sight.

“They trust me that I’ll get them to the best point they possibly can be and my plan is for all of them to break their personal best on their fitness and everything else.”

Meanwhile, Ryan said France- based Josua Tuisova will be joining camp next week.

“He’s in Ba so we’ve given him some time because he needs it and he has been playing for too long.

“When he joins camp next week he will just get used to what we are doing and anything else.”
