Women’s Rugby coaching director Chris Cracknell is confident of the Telecom Fijiana’s chances at the Rio Olympics next month.

Cracknell acknowledged the progress after the fourth week of training at the Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour.

“We’re going to Rio to win a medal. I’ve hung my hat on that from day one since I got here,”Cracknell said.

“I believe that the talent is endless in this country. And I’m really happy with the group we have here.

“We just have to make sure we win the marginal games. We’ve been practising our restarts, lineout specifics and making sure fitness is up to top level with a lot of understanding on the field,” he said.

“We tested them after visiting Government House on Monday and the results were really impressive.”

The Telecom Fijiana are pooled with Australia, USA and Columbia.

“I’m really confident we are going to do well in our group,” he said.

“We’ve been regularly the only team outside the top four who has really pushed them close so the girls don’t fear them and we’ve showed that by beating New Zealand two weeks ago in Nadi.”

The final 12 players will be named on July 16.
