Tourism Industry Gets Insight From TripAdvisor

The TripAdvisor Seminar gave tourism industry stakeholders the opportunity to get an insight on how Fiji was tracking against the global market.
The seminar, labeled as informative by the participants, was well-attended by a wide cross section of Tourism Industry stakeholders at the FNU Campus in Namaka on Wednesday
South Sea Cruises sales manager, Lailanie Burnes, said: “I found it extremely beneficial to look at the travellers trends.
“We also learnt how we, as not only an organisation, but a destination as a whole can collectively tap into these trends for the benefit of Fiji.”
Ms Burnes was grateful to the Market Development Facility (MDF), Australian AID and Tourism Council of Nadi for organiding this seminar for stakeholders across Fiji.
TripAdvisor Head of Destination Marketing Asia Pacific, Sarah Mathews, spoke about key travel trends and how Fiji can improve its online presence and content as a destination.
Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa general manager, Craig Powell, said: “We look forward to the return of Ms Mathews later in the year to facilitate small TripAdvisor workshops.
“This will enhance our existence as a destination online, as this is the way customers connect in today’s world, especially with the use of smartphones and apps.”
Mr Powell added that Ms Matthews also gave good advice to tourism operators about the steps they can take to improve their listing and insights into what customers are looking for.
He said this was in addition to key features of TripAdvisor that they can utilise to boost their ranking with Trip Advisor.
