Contestants Attend Church Service

The Digicel Bula Festival’s 11 queen contestants joined the community in a church service at the Sabeto village Methodist Church in Nadi yesterday.
This was one of the new initiatives that the Bula Festival committee is organising to get more community outreach into the villages.
Festival organising committee president Leone Naivalu said: “We are trying to create more awareness of Bula Festival as it comes close to the week.
“We have started off with Sabeto Village, next week Sunday there will be another church service at Nawaka village, and the final church service we will be at the chiefly village in Narewa.”
Mr Naivalu said that a week prior to the Bula Festival, the contestants would be conducting community work following a clean up at the Nadi Hospital and a visit to the Hart Home in Navakai.
The Bula Festival will start on Friday July 22 with the Tropical Cyclone Appeal concert with the official opening the next day on Saturday; and the final night of crowning to be held on the closing Saturday July 30.
