FACT For Nadi

Jack’s Fiji/Professional Valuations Nadi beat Kasabias Ingco Suva 3-0 after a penalty shootout to win the 2016 Vodafone Fijian FACT final at the Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori last night.
What happened: Scoreless after two spells of extra time, Nadi successfully found the net in three penalty attempts while Suva missed the three attempts.
Napolioni Qasevakatini, Antonio Tuivuna and Mataiasi Toma all scored for Nadi.
Suva captain Pita Rabo’s and Waisake Navunigasau’s attempts was saved by Nadi goalkeeper Vereti Dickson while Madhwan Gounder was way off the mark.
Comments: Nadi coach Joseph Nitya Nand; “We won because we have good structure.
“I took charge of this team a month before the FACT and ensured that players get the right training and I did it having a structure in place.
“I worked a on a game plan where I focussed on maintaining possession.
“We were goal down in the semifinal and our players came back strongly to win and again in the final.
“This is my first victory with a district team and this is indeed a special occasion for me.
“It all went down getting the basics right and Nadi got it right as they had done hard yards in training.”
Suva coach Gurjit Singh;
“The penalty shootout is anybody’s game and Nadi was lucky to win.”
Nadi collected $15,000 while Suva received $4,000.
Nadi’s Mataiasi Toma and Ilimotama Jese were named player of the tournament and player of the day respectively.
Dickson also won the Golden Glove award for the goalkeeper of the tournament.
Star turn: Good effort by Dickson, played a crucial role.
Big Plus: Jese played well upfront.
