Fiji is an affordable destination for sports tour groups from Australia, New Zealand and around the world.

And the Fijian hospitality and cultural experience is a bonus, says Estilo Sports Travel operations manager, Dean Michniewicz.

Michniewicz brought across the St Stanislaus College Under-15 and U18 teams from Bathurst, New South Wales, last week.

The side were billeted at the St Vincent College in Natovi. They also played against Ratu Kadavulevu School.

The highlight of the tour for most of the boys was watching the big Super Rugby clash between the Chiefs and Crusaders at the ANZ  Stadium in Suva last Friday.

Last Saturday, the Under-15 team played against Sigatoka Methodist High School at Nahigatoka.

“The students are having a great time. We will be staying at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort and depart for New Zealand to play Rotorua on Tuesday,”he said.

“Fiji is close, affordable and you get a good cultural experience. The Australian boys can see how Fijians live.  It opens their eyes and they are grateful for what they have got back in Australia.”

Estilo Sports Travel is only into its fifth year of operation. In Fiji, Joe Tuisuva assists with logistics and local visits.

Over the next two weeks, two schools from Australia will be in Fiji to experience Fijian rugby, hospitality and culture.

For St Stanislaus College, each student paid $2500 for the Fiji and New Zealand tour package.

Michniewicz is hopeful that Fijian schools will do the same and plan for sports tours to Australia or New Zealand.

The company also offers sports tour packages to South Africa and France.
