The Duavata Northern Crime Prevention Carnival has raised $104,950.10.

This was announced by the committee chairman Satish Kumar during the closing night at Subrail Park in Labasa on Saturday night.

“I am very happy because we have managed to achieve more than our target for this year,” Mr Kumar said.

“I would like to thank the contestants, our major sponsor Pinto Industries Limited and other sponsors and the people of the North for the contribution.

“This would surely be used for the community projects.”

Miss Seaqaqa sponsored by Jaduram Industries Limited Prerna Singh was crowned Miss Charity.She raised $3200 during the weeklong festival.

The 19-year-old of Soasoa, Labasa, said she was excited to be crowned Miss Charity.

“This award came to me as a surprise,” the eldest of three siblings said.

“I am very excited and feel proud and thankful to my sponsor and family for their support.

“I am glad that I was able to contribute the highest amount of fund to this carnival which has been doing so many projects for the North since 2012.”

Miss Singh is a science foundation student of the University of the South Pacific.
