Sevens and 15s rep Leone Nakarawa is still in the running for Rio Olympics selection despite his court case.

This was confirmed by the Vodafone Fijian 7s manager Ropate Kauvesi yesterday.

Nakarawa has been put on a six month good behaviour bond after he pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.

The Suva Magistrates Court has warned him he would be recharged if he reoffends.

Speaking to SunSports yesterday, Kauvesi said Nakarawa was always honest about his case. He confirmed that Nakarawa will still be considered in the training squad.

“It wasn’t done this year and we are quite happy with him. He’s been upfront about it, he had notified us the moment he came into camp so he is okay,” Kauvesi said.

Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fijian 7s team will be put to the test since this will be their final week to prove themselves for the 12-member team.

Kauvesi said this would be another brutal week of training before the final names which will be announced next week.

“It is their final training week.Next week the selection will take place, so it’s all in the mind of the players, and they know they will have to perform as well.

“Training is tough, but they have been responding well, which makes it even harder for Ben to select the team,” he said.

Furthermore, Jarryd Hayne, who flew to Sydney last week for a medical check, returned on Monday night and has been confirmed by Kauvesi to be back at camp.

“He was treated by his specialist and now he feels a lot freer with his movements and his back in training, so he’s been training with the boys on the beach this morning,” he said.
