The Lautoka Farmers Carnival will start tomorrow and carnival committee president Udit Narayan was hopeful that the public would come out in numbers to support it.

“The preparations are well underway and we are hopeful that the crowd will come out in numbers to support the contestants during the first carnival of Lautoka for the year,” Mr Narayan said.

He said the carnival was aimed at helping the poor and needy students affected by Cyclone Winston.

“We the organisers are looking forward to the public support as the earnings from here would be used to help needy students in various schools,” he said.

“The weather is really good now and the people are still in the festive mood from the Eid celebrations.”

The week he said would be full of entertainment for everyone; kids and adults, free of charge.

The 2016 Farmers Carnival starts tomorrow and will end with float processions during the day and crowning at night on  July 16.

The major sponsors of the carnival are Professional Valuation, Blue Gas, Paddy’s, Khan Buses Limited, Laser Electrics, Mechanical Services Limited, Superb Advertising and Signage Limited, Singh’s Rentals, Form Scaff, Smart Chef, Gokul Printing Press, Digicel, Hasmat Investment Limited, Wilderness Amusement and Rides, and Bank of Baroda.
