The 100 Indonesian soldiers working at Queen Victoria School are enjoying the Fijian hospitality from near-by villages.

Logistic officer Captain Yusfi Fitrawan said the hospitality lifted their morale and had made them feel at home.

He said they hoped to complete their work rebuilding the Cyclone Wisnton battered school by August 25.

Captain Fitrawan said since their arrival they had not experienced any difficulties, but were praying that the weather remained fine so they could meet their deadline.

“I’m optimistic we will complete our work within the timeline so that the QVS students return,” he said.

He said they were assisted by a platoon from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Engineers and they were very good.

During the Eid celebration, he said the 89 Muslims in the group spent the night with the Indonesian Ambassador in Suva.

The rest, he said, stayed at their camp.
