Senior Police Officers Receive Medals

Seventeen senior Police officers received the Fiji Police Medal (FPM) yesterday. The highest medal in the Fiji Police Force was presented to the officers by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho.
FPM are awards for bravery, valuable services, or leadership.
Award recipient, Fiji Police chief operations officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudravu said he was happy for the award even though it had taken a long time.
He said he now had three more years to serve and would help young officers in their work.
Another 59 officers received the Fiji Police Long Service Medal (FPLSM). The medals are awarded to officers who had served the Force for 18 years and more.
Clasps are awarded for an additional seven years, and then five years of service.
“For the majority of you being a Police officer is the only career path that you know. And the fact you have all remained loyal and committed to the oath you took to serve should be rewarded,” he said.
He told them to wear the medal proudly and share their achievements with their families, because without their support they would not have been awarded.
His advice to those who witnessed the proud moment: “Let this be motivation for you to work hard and stay committed so that one day you will also be standing in their place receiving a medal for your hard work.”
He urged the 750 officers on parade not to miss an opportunity to always express their appreciation to their families.
“They are the foundation as to why you are able to do your work every day.”
