Teenager Plans To Be A History Teacher

Dawasamu Secondary School Year 11 student, 17-year-old Alumeci Tinai wants to be a history teacher in the future.
Ms Tinai was one of hundreds of students who attended the 2016 Careers Expo at Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) yesterday.
She said it was her second time to attend a careers expo.
“The first was when I was in Class Eight and was held at Queen Victoria School,” she said.
She said she was able to understand options for her future at the expo and she formulated a plan where to study now.
“I want to study at the University of the South Pacific and become a history teacher when I grow up,” Ms Tinai said.
Her form mate 17 year-old Susi Marama said the expo was her first.
“This expo is my first one and it has helped me a lot to choose where to study and my future career,” she said.
She said her parents had advised her to take whatever she wanted to study and they would support her.
“When I grow up I want to become a nurse to help people who are sick,” she said.
Chief guest at the expo, the Acting Director Secondary Schools Emosi Lutunaika, said it was good that the expo was held at RKS as it tied in with Government’s initiative to expose students in rural areas to what was happening in the urban areas.
With the Government ministries and the Fiji National University participating at the expo, he said it had given the students a wide range of choices on their career paths.
RKS principal Peni Senikarawa said he was happy that the Ministry of Education had agreed for the school to host the 2016 Career Expo for secondary schools in Tailevu North.
He said it was an eye opener for all students for their future.
