Rewa Rice Limited is planning to re-brand itself.

This was revealed during a task force meeting at the Agriculture Training Centre in Dreketi, Vanua Levu.

Rewa Rice Limited mill manager Ashrit Pratap said they planned to re-brand to reposition itself in the market.

“We need to increase our local market coverage in small islands,” Mr Pratap said.

“If we meet this target then we would look into our potential of exporting rice to Pacific islands.

Mr Pratap said changing the name of the company was a first for them.

The new name is expected to be announced soon.

During his presentation at the meeting, he revealed that there hads been an increase in the paddy supply.

“This year the forecast for paddy supply is 920 tonnes and the paddy crushed milling forecast is 828 tonnes,” Mr Pratap said.

“This will be highest record since 2009 and we will achieve this.”

He said they were encouraging farmers to partner with them  to do rice farming.

“We are targeting to make use of unused land.

“Six acres is currently sub leased to start pilot project,” he revealed.
