Festival Brings Girls Together

About 90 girls took part in a one-day girl’s festival at Nasinu Sangam Primary School in Nasinu.

Fiji Football Association development officer Waifune Tupua said girls from Nasinu Sangam Primary and Ahmadhiya Muslim Primary School enjoyed the festival last week.

“It was encouraging to see the interest from girls during the festival,” said Tupua.

She said the festival brings girls from all races together and also gives them opportunity to learn basic skills of football.

“The girls learn some basic drills in football and the excitement on their face says it all. We are giving opportunities to develop women football through our festival which is very much supported.”

She believes girls are now ready to play any sports.

“We know our women are ready to play football as we see their interest in playing football.”

Tupua said the girl’s festival would continue around country with the aim to develop more women football players.
