The Certificate IV in Hospitality Operations programme of The University of the South Pacific (USP) has achieved full accreditation by the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE).

Offered through USP’s Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), Certificate IV in Hospitality Operations reflects the role of skilled operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with sound knowledge of industry processes and standards.

They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

THE-ICE is a not-for-profit organisation with a global membership network of over 33 leading tourism hospitality and education institutions from 14 countries which specialises in the accreditation of higher education programmes in tourism, hospitality and events at a range of top quality institutions around the world.

In congratulating Pacific TAFE on its achievement, Chief Executive Officer of THE-ICE, Pauline Tang said that she looked forward to the active engagement between Pacific and THE-ICE and their global network of quality member institutions, in developing world-class programmes and activities.

Ms Tang said she hoped to work in close cooperation with Pacific TAFE, to develop international relationships and extend existing capacity in the establishment of quality benchmarks.

Director Pacific TAFE Hasmukh Lal was elated saying this was not only a huge achievement but their second international validation of Pacific TAFE’s quality which “speaks volumes of the high quality programmes offered”.
