The office of the Police Commissioner has received the files from the Fiji Police Internal Affairs Team.

This concerns a Navua Police officer who allegedly demanded $500 from a family who were involved in an accident.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said: “The investigation has been completed by Internal Affairs team and the file is going through the necessary channels intently before it will reach my office. Only then can I be in a position to make a comment on the outcome of the investigations.”

The minor accident happened past Pacific Harbour on June 24 when the Savike family were travelling to Lautoka for the long weekend. The Police officer in question took down the statements of both parties including their contacts.

Two days later the officer allegedly called Vincent Savike’s parents, Rigamoto Savike and Raki Savike in Suva demanding money.

Mr Savike allegedly received text messages from the officer demanding money on June 30.
