The Ministry of Youth and Sports is looking at strengthening existing partnerships with the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) of the Republic of Korea.

Following discussions last week between the Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou, and the founder of the International Youth Fellowship, Pastor Ock Soo Park, in Seoul, it was agreed that mutual areas of interest centred on youth development would be explored further.

Discussions included the need to strengthen relations and the importance of having an increased participation of Fijian youths and educational leaders in the Mind Lecture programme offered by the IYF.

Mr Tuitubou thanked Pastor Ock for IYF’s continued support in providing development programmes targeted at Fiji’s youth which complemented the ministry’s efforts.

Mr Tuitubou also highlighted that in due course, his ministry would explore with the Ministry of Education possibilities of incorporating the IYF’s psychological, emotional and spiritual development programmes into educators’ working calendar in consultation with the IYF’s local branch.

Their discussions called for strengthened partnership to share information and resources to increase youth development opportunities.

Pastor Ock also acknowledged Fiji’s exceptional hospitality and cordial reception afforded to IYF by Government during the World Culture Camp recently held in Suva.
