Inaugural Miss Youth Fete All Set

The inaugural Youth with a Purpose-themed carnival is set for August 3.

The four-day Miss Youth North Carnival and Northern Sevens tournament will be held at Subrail Park in Labasa.

It will have 15 contestants from throughout the Northern Division including the islands of Kioa and Rabi.

Chairman of the event Josiah Loloma said they were working with Digicel Fiji to be their major sponsor.

The Miss Youth North Carnival winner will win a return ticket overseas and funds to work on  acommunity project of choice.

Mr Loloma said Miss Charity would also be awarded a return trip overseas.

Entertainment groups taking part include a brass band from the Salvation Army, a music band from Nabala Secondary School; a music and dance group from Rabi Island and the Drua Dance Group from Suva.

The Help International Organisation from the United States and Fiji Sports Council will be working together to groom the contestants for the opening dance.

The carnival will be held in Ground 2 while Ground  1 will host the Northern Sevens Tournament. The winner of the 32 teams taking part will walk away with $4000. The registration for the tournament will close on July 20.
