The Satish Motormart Naodamu football team scored a 2-0 win over Northern Bullets Sanatan in the Carpenters Finance Labasa Sanatan tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

The Naodamu side fielded Super Premier League players like Ravinesh Singh, Ashneel Raju and Kushal Naicker. In a thrilling encounter the young Northern Bullet side held them to a scoreless first half.

In the 11th minute of the second half Singh slotted in Naodamu’s first goal and again in the 39th minute Ravneet Goundar sealed their win with a brilliant goal.

Naodamu coach Sanjesh Lal said it was great to be playing in such a tournament.

“Our aim is to win this tournament,” Lal said.

“The last time we won this tournament was in 2009 where we beat Siberia 5-4 on penalty kicks. Our team this year is a mixture of young and experienced players who are very dedicated to our mission to win this tournament.”

In their first pool match they beat Lions Sanatan 1-0.

Northern Bullet Sanatan coach Salesh Mani said he was happy with the performance of his players.

“All my players are young and are participating in this tournament for the first time. We don’t have experienced players like our opponents. Our aim is to qualify for the knock-out stages.”

The Nothern Bullet held Dreketilailai Sanatan to a nil-all draw in their pool opener.
