Seruwaia Tuwai was confident her son will make the cut for the national rugby 7s team to next month’s Rio Olympics.

Seremaia Tuwai was among the 13 players named by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Saturday night.

She said: “He did not even call us to tell us that he’s among the 13 men but I was confident that my son will make the cut.”

Life has been a struggle for this Buca Bay woman from Cakaudrove. But her son’s selection has made it all worthwhile.

“I cried and thank God for everything, I know he was the one that made this decision and I’m just thankful,”Serewaia said.

“I also want to thank coach Ben Ryan for always trusting my son.”
