Naitasiri head coach Reverend Joji Rinakama believes the last round of the  Skipper Cup competition should produce exciting rugby.

This is the first time in which the top four teams for the semi-finals will be decided in the last round.

Suva, Nadroga, Naitasiri, Northland, Namosi, Malolo and Nadi are in contention.

“The competition has been competitive  compared to past years,” Rev Rinakama said.

“We just can’t write off any teams and it just shows the quality of players and local coaches we have and the development programme at school level.

“Anything can happen now and only teams that prepares well will make the top four.”

Naitasiri play Tailevu in the 11th round and Rinakama said they will need to step up their preparation.

“Tailevu is not an easy team to play against they will be coming out hard and we will need to lift our game,” Rinakama said.

He said the new Super Eight format in 2017 lifted the competition level this year.

Northland currently in fourth place with 33 points play Nadroga this Saturday and manager Maciu Koroi said it’s all about playing clean and hard rugby.

“The competition is really competitive this year but we are preparing against Nadroga. We respect them as champions.

“We are just moving forward with our preparation even though we don’t have sponsors, resources and facilities like other teams,”he said.

“We just work with the funds provided by the Fiji Rugby Union.

“This Saturday it’s all about playing hard and clean rugby,” Koroi said.

Suva currently tops the Skipper Cup table with 40 points, Naitasiri and Nadroga on 36, Northland, Namosi on 33 while Malolo and Nadi on 31.
