The Makoi Bulldogs were all smiles as they received their new uniforms at the Makoi Methodist Church Hall, in Nasinu yesterday.

The jerseys which cost $1600 were donated by former Chiefs and current London Irish winger Asaeli Tikoirotuma.

And their transportation costs for the rest of the year amounting to $1400 was covered by Tikoirotuma’s cousin Rairai Wasaliuwa.

Makoi Bulldogs coach Maika Vunivere said this is a major boost for boys as they are now even more excited for the remainder of the Vodafone Cup season.

“It is too bad we did not get the jerseys in the first round but we are still happy to have it for the remainder of the season,” Vunivere said.

“I think the boys are really happy with their new uniforms and we are also happy with our transportation costs being covered for the rest of the year as that was one of our biggest challenges.

“We feel really blessed to have Tikoirotuma’s support for the rugby league boys because at the beginning of this year we started using our old jerseys again which are basically two or three years old and most of them are worn out.

“But I used to tell them that should not think about the new jerseys because all that matters is if you win games and play each game to the best of your ability.

“I can see the excitement on their faces when they tried on their jumpers and I think they will be working extra hard now.”
