The drizzle on Friday failed to stop 294 students of Lomary Secondary School performing their best during their cadet passing-out parade.

The parade was held at the school ground in Galoa, Serua.

At the parade, the Permanent Secretary for Education, Iowane Tiko, said parades was not about marching and timing, but practising values learned during training.

“I’m informed by the school principal the three years of participating in the cadet training has brought out self confidence in students,” he said.

“Cadet training will instil important values such as honesty, discipline and a sense of responsibility in young people.

“When discipline is translated into the classroom, it will greatly enhance students’ academic performance.”

Headboy Kamilo Letevou, who was presented with the Baton of Honour, said the training had improved their level of discipline and enhanced academic performance.
