The Korean national soccer team’s intention to treat the game against Fiji as a warm up match at the Rio Olympics next month has inspired team captain Roy Krishna.

Krishna, who recently got engaged to fiancé Naziah Ali, will certainly be looking to bring something home from the Olympics for his beautiful bride to be.

She was part of the families who attended the team’s farewell at the Football Academy in Ba last night hosted by the Fiji Football Association.

Krishna said he wanted to make this Olympics special.

“It’s an honour and privilege to be captain of the team as this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,”he said.

“Whatever the Koreans said will not change our mindset. We will not take them (the comments) seriously and will take the field and go for a win like we do with other games.”

Major sponsor Vodafone’s manager West Antonio Kitione said the company was committed to taking the sport to greater heights.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said only 16 soccer teams would be taking part in the Olympics and not 32 as in the World Cup.

“You are part of the elite group because there are only 16 countries,”Patel said.
