Team Fiji men’s rugby sevens captain Osea Kolinisau says it’s an honour for him to carry his country’s flag during the opening of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“It will be forever etched in my heart,” he told SUNsports as the team checked in at Nadi International Airport yesterday.

Kolinisau said that he’s excited and nervous at the same time especially to be chosen for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

“It’s a great privilege to lead the country’s rugby team but to be the flag bearer at the Olympic Games will stay with me for the rest of my life.

“I’m having butterflies in my stomach, I think it has not really sunk in as yet and it feels like just another tournament. But I guess when we get to Rio and go into the Olympic village then it will start to dawn on us that we are there on the big stage.”

His family members turned up in full force to farewell him and the team.

“I thank God for the journey that he has taken me through because I believe without God, I would not have made it to where I’m today. So just keep supporting Team Fiji by praying for us as we participate in Rio.”
