The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team are focussing on the positives as they prepare to play Nasinu Secondary School in the Coke Zero Deans quarterfinal at the ANZ Stadium on Saturday.

School principal Navneet Mishra is overwhelmed with the support the team have been receiving from parents and friends.

The team had a weekend camp at Nadroga provincial house at Talenavuruvuru where parents, friends and supporters gathered and assisted the team.

Mishra said they were happy with the support they were getting from the rugby community in Nadroga.

“Rugby is big in Nadroga, we are thankful to the parents for coming in full force and supporting the players.

“We are driving towards the theme ‘Academic Excellence’. We want our students to strike a balance in their school work and sports and we appreciate all the support we have been getting so far,” Mishra said.

“To be part of the national quarterfinals for the second year in a row is a milestone achievement for the school.

“This team did not play through the grades from U14 as we just started playing last year in the U18 grade and we reached the quarterfinal.

“Preparation has been going on well, we respect Nasinu as they have been part of the competition for years now and we expect a good competition.”

Cuvu College defeated Ratu Navula 18-13 to finish top of the Western Zone.
