If you are interested in learning more on taxation in a legal context, then the 2016 CPA Australia Fiji Branch congress can provide just the platform needed.

Craig Eliffe, a professor specialising in taxation in a law faculty, has been invited to speak on the theme: International tax-base erosion and multinationals, competition and harmful practices.

The 2016 Congress will be held on September 1 and 2 at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort on Yanuca Island.

It is usually one of the biggest annual gatherings of the accounting fraternity and continues to grow in numbers.

Professor Elliffe is the Director of the MTaxS programme (the leading postgraduate tax course in New Zealand).

He is also the co-director New Zealand Centre for Law and will be speaking on day two of the annual congress.

While registrations for the congress have closed, those interested can still contact the secretariat to check space availability.

If the rooms are all booked out, then there is a possibility to become a day delegate only and organise your own accommodation.

Further background

Professor Elliffe was appointed to a chair after 14 years as a tax partner at KPMG and nine years as a tax partner at Chapman Tripp.

His research areas are in the field of international tax, corporate tax and tax avoidance.

He is the author of International and Cross-Border Taxation in New Zealand (Thomson Reuters) and Dividend Imputation: Practice and Procedure (Lexis).
