Vodafone Fiji Olympic Football team striker Iosefo Verevou has called on the nation to continue supporting and praying for the team while they play in the Olympics.

The 2015 Fiji Sportsmen of the year winner said he could repeat his FIFA U2O World cup history with the blessings from the people of Fiji.

“I want to repeat what I did in the u20 world cup and it can’t happen with the support and prayers of our people.

Verevou is proud to be part of the first Fiji football team to be part of the Olympic Games.

“I am honored to be part of the team and I thank God for giving me opportunity to play in the Olympics.

The Rewa striker said he will give his best in all the matches he will be given chance to play.

“Please pray for us, and continue to pray for the team when we are in Rio. We hope that whatever the result, the team will continue to receive your full support.”

“We will not take any game lightly and we will do our best,” said Verevou.

A 23 member Fiji football contingent left our shores on Tuesday taking a long journey to Salvador, Brazil.

Fiji is pooled with South Korea, Mexico and Germany and plays its first match against South Korea on August 4.
