Team Fiji men’s football head coach Frank Farina believes his players are going to give their best at next month’s Olympic Games in Brazil.

The former Australian star striker and coach did not mince his words when asked of his team’s chances.

“It’s no pressure on the boys. They just have to give their hundred percent because we are playing some of the best teams in the world,” Farina said.

“All we know is that we are going on the field and give everything we have got. We are going to learn more and get more experience, be credible and try to be competitive that’s the key for us.”

He said the players have had some good experience after build-up tours to Spain and Brazil.

“Unfortunately we are just going with seventeen players at the moment. It’s a little bit difficult but as we have said we will do our best and give everything we have got. We are going to Salvador where the first two games are going to be played.”

WE’RE READY

Farina said they have nothing to fear as their pool opponents South Korea, Mexico and Germany have got two legs and two arms just like them.

“We have been working hard and finally getting on the plane to go to Rio, the players are looking forward to it. We have got a long flight but everyone is ready,” he added.

HIGH SPIRITS

Meanwhile, Team Fiji men’s football skipper Roy Krishna said the players are really excited and are prepared for this journey.

“The excitement in the camp is really high,” he said.

“It’s a tough journey and the training was really hard but that’s what we are supposed to expect. But I think the boys are ready for the Olympics. I think we are going to enjoy every moment of it, every minute of it and we are going to take each game as it comes to us and we are going to focus on that.”
