Work on the future official residence for the president of the Methodist Church at the Davuilevu Theological compound starts next month.

This was confirmed to the Fiji Sun by the church secretary for communication, Reverend James Bhagwan.

He said approximately $500,000 was raised during their week-long Festival of Praise/Solevu at Furnival Park in Toorak, Suva, last year.

The current official residence of the Methodist Church president is at Pender Street, Suva. There has been a delay in the project because of the construction of the Derrick Bridge, which connects the Davuilevu complex to the Kings Road entrance.

Reverend Bhagwan said the new building would also include an office and meeting room. The development project, a first for Davuilevu, is expected to be completed within eight to 10 months. Reverend Tevita Banivanua is the current president of the Methodist Church.
