Head girl of Tailevu North Secondary School, 18-year-old Seini Waqavou said the Chinese Language course offered by the University of the South Pacific would be in big demand.

“It was important to learn about the Chinese language because of the increase in level of co-operation between Fiji and China,” she said.

Ms Waqavou was aiming for the Chinese Language booth during the USP open day yesterday.

“The presentation at the booth was really interesting and I’m planning to take up this course as an elective when I join USP next year,” she said.

The Namena native said the open day was a good opportunity to experience new environment and cultures.

Meanwhile, school teacher, AkuilaWainiqolo said: “The open day gave students a chance to decide on their career choices that would shape their future.”

He said there 62 Year 13 student with five teachers from Tailevu North Secondary School.
