Police have confiscated more than 20 plants believed to be marijuana from Tukavesi, Cakaudrove, after a tip-off from the public.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro  said the plants’ height ranged from 20 to 75 centimeters and would be sent to Suva for analysis.

Ms Naisoro said while Operation Cavuraka was on hold, this did not mean that their war on drugs had ceased.

“Our teams are tasked to look into these issues daily,” she said.

“With this, the support of the public is very important in order to successfully carry out our work in their areas.

“Their assistance would greatly help us in eradicating this illicit trade and when we work together we can produce positive results.”

Ms Naisoro also confirmed they were yet to charge the owner of the farm as they were still looking for him. She urged the public to come forward if they had information regarding marijuana cultivation and trade in their areas.

She said the plants height ranged from 20 to 75 centimetres and will be sent to Suva for analysis.
