President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote has assured the Fiji Scouts Association his full support.

He made reassurance after he was ceremoniously named Chief Scout of Fiji at the State House in Suva yesterday.

The occasion was also attended by Minister for Education and Heritage, Mahendra Reddy, Government officials, Fijian scouts and Girl Guides members.

While delivering his speech, Major General (Ret’d) Konrote said: “I acknowledge this special and historical occasion as I join the ranks of my predecessors who were similarly honoured in the past and served our beloved nation as Chief Scout with fortitude and pride.”

He said the aim of the scout movement was to develop good citizenship among young people by training them to become self-reliant, patriotic and assist in the promotion and improvement of their physical, mental and spiritual development.
