The University of the South Pacific will be launching a Pacific Studies Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Monday.

Pacific Studies academics will promote Pacific awareness, cross cultural competency to meet the challenges of regional and globalisation.

The six week free course will be conducted by the Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies.

Senior Lecture for Pacific Studies, Frank Thomas said: “We will be covering a range of issues like identity, art, pacific in the media, globalisation issues.

“Upon successful completion there certificates awarded to participate so they can add to their CV.

“This is USP’s second MOOC with first one on climate change that was conducted last year.”

He said more than 500 people have registered for the course which was beyond their expectation.

So we encourage everybody with an interest in the Pacific studies to log in to http://mooc.usp.ac.fj/ for a free glimpse of the course.
