Xavier College of Ba last night won the schools’ 2016 Fijian-Made Dance Competition at the FMF Gymnasium, Suva.

Thirteen schools showcased their dance talents.

Chief guest Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said many schools weren’t able to participate because they were devastated by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

He said Queen Victoria School in Tailevu was one the schools. It was one of the worst damaged.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum reminded students as they participated that they should remember students who were affected by the cyclone.

He said their participation was a sign of courage.

“You are showing the rest of Fiji that despite the devastating cyclone that hit our country few months ago, we are still moving forward,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

He said the Prime Minister just recently launched digital television which would benefit Fijian people.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum also reminded students to buy Fijian made products as it would benefit the nation.

He said the competition was a way to celebrate the wonderful talents that Fiji had.
