Team Fiji women’s rugby sevens rep and Fiji Corrections Service officer, Raijeli Daveua is ready to make her debut at next week’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Speaking to SUNsports, Daveua said she is fortunate to be part of Team Fiji and at the same time she is nervous too.

“Training with other players who had already represented the country in rugby was tough,” the former national netball goalkeeper said.

“This is a dream come true to be part of the Olympics and I thank God for this opportunity.”

The 24-year-old from Wayalevu in Yasawa played for the Striders 7s club before she joined the national women’ sevens team for the World Sevens Series.

“Switching sports was not difficult for me. I love both games and to me it was just a matter of changing the type of balls used. I have brothers and cousins who have already represented Fiji in rugby and so that was how I got to play rugby,” she said.
