New Boat To Assist Kabara Students In Lau

The Ministry of Education yesterday handed over a new fiberglass boat and engine to the management of Kabara District School in Lau to help in the transportation of students to and from school.
The assistance worth $19,600 would benefit students of two other schools, Vunigigia Village School and Naikeleyaga Village School in Lau.
While handing over the assistance at Sukuna Park in Suva, the Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy said the Government was committed to ensuring that all Fijian students had access to learning facilities, including those schools that were located in isolated communities.
Kabara District School manager, Jone Marau said the timely assistance by Government would make their children’s lives much easier.
“We are excited about what has been provided to help our children. The students will no longer have to walk to schools. This boat will also be used to transport children to the health centre when need arises,” Mr Marau said.
More than 40 students will benefit from the new boat and engine.
