Pacific Cement Limited, in recognition of the record 150,561 tonnes of cement sales recorded over the past 12 months, rewarded staff members for their commitment.

It’s surely a positive sign to note that cement sales within the country hit an all-time high in the past 12 months.

Pacific Cement is the country’s leading cement producer and of this record sales, 104,000 tonnes has been sold locally.

Pacific Cement is a subsidiary of Fijian Holdings Limited and the Group chief executive, Nouzab Fareed, was present to present the rewards to staff members on Wednesday.

Pacific Cement general manager, Sowani Tuidrola, said this figure was a reflection of the confidence placed in their product as well as the demand and growth of Fiji on a national level.

Mr Tuidrola took over the role a year ago for this Fijian Holdings Group subsidiary.

Since then, he said total sales have risen by 19 per cent to over 150,000 tonnes,

With the current budgetary allocations, as well as the Government’s vision for the way forward, Mr Tuidrola is confident more records will be made.

With a realignment and shift in their focus, Pacific Cement has managed to produce an average of 500 tonnes per working day.

The company exports currently to countries such as Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Tarawa, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands, Wallis and Futuna.

This is in addition to sales made also in Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.
