The Vodafone Under-17 national team thrashed Suva Youth 5-0 during the Vodafone Youth League at the Fiji Football Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa, Suva yesterday.

Coach Shalen Lal said despite the team not playing in four weeks, the players did quite well.

“This is our first game after four weeks and I think they did really well,” Lal said.

“Most teams struggle after not having enough game time but the boys scored five goals.

“We started slow but whatever we worked on during the week the boys were able to pull it off during the game.

With just seven months to go before the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) competition, Lal need to prove their worth.

The (OFC) Championships will be held in February 2017
