Mereseini Waqabaca Tueli was stunned and emotional when her daughter, Grace Tueli, was named Miss Digicel Bula Queen on Saturday.

Representing Nadi Town Council, Miss Tueli was crowned queen before a packed crowd at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

“I am so proud of her achievement and what she has accomplished and I look forward in supporting her as she prepares to participate at the Fiji Pageant,” Ms Tueli said.

“When she first started I told her that I had nothing, no money since this was a very expensive exercise. She told me whatever we have we will use that and our journey started from there.”

Ms Tueli has been supporting her family single-handedly after her husband died in 2012. The family runs a business called Hiring and Decoration, which specialise in doing wedding set ups, flower decorations and tie and dye.

“This morning it feels different to every other morning, it feels like doors of opportunity are now opening up on to our family,” she said.

“I did all the design with her dress and costumes and not once did she complain or said that it was not good enough.”

Miss Tueli also scooped the Miss Creativity, Miss Photogenic and third runner-up Miss Charity titles.

She dedicated her crowning to the Lord, she said: “Hebrews 11:1Faith is being sure of what you hope for and believing what you cannot see.”

“I would like to take this time to thank all of you for your support; it was through faith that my sister and I started this journey.
