The 18,000 athletes participating at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games will receive a Samsung S7 Edge phone each.

The phones will not only allow them to call their families and friends but boost their preparations.

Poland athlete Aleksandra Socha believes it has really assisted her with her preparations.

“I already have a Samsung wristwatch and by having this S7 phone will make my work much easier as I will be able to work myself well during training,” Socha said.

“Nowadays technology is important especially for us athletes and we are so thankful to have this kind of service, giving a phone each to athletes is cool.”

Team Fiji media representative Sitiveni Tawakevou confirmed Fijian athletes have also received their phones.

Samsung is one of the 2016 Rio Olympics major sponsors.
